Multiscale Contrast

What is it?

Multiscale contrast extends the concept of contrast adjustment by allowing you to adjust the contrast of different scales independently. For example, you can increase the contrast of small details and large details, but leave the contrast of medium-sized details untouched.

How does it work?

It works by separating the image into three – one image with only small details, one image with medium details and one image with large details. The contrast of each one of these images can be adjusted independently and then recombined into the final image.

Why should I care?

This is a very powerful function that can make images look much sharper and more dramatic, without washing out or burning out details.
